Yaseen Islam, pictured, was hit by a car while crossing Burnley Lane. The Bare Trees Primary School pupil had just left the mosque in Garforth Street with his seven-year-old sister, Tanisha. Yaseen was knocked over while running to a nearby shop. The driver raced off.
Father-of-three Tajamul Islam, of Magnet Court, is now appealing to the public to come forward with information.
He said: “Yaseen was at mosque but when he came out he ran straight to the shop without his sister or mum. When he tried to cross the road to get back to his mum he was knocked down. He was very lucky to survive. One more step and he would have been under the wheels completely.”
Passers-by helped Yaseen and he was rushed to hospital. He is now recovering at home.
