Police are investigating internet messages from a 32-year-old Pakistani-origin Sunni Muslim man, Tanveer Ahmed, serving a life sentence for the murder of a Glasgow-based shopkeeper, Asad Shah, 40, on March 24 this year.
Ahmed, from Bradford in Yorkshire, has released extremist audio messages from his prison cell calling on supporters to behead “insulters”.
Police are probing how phone messages from Ahmed ended up on Youtube.
