Shafi Mohammed (33), was sentenced at the Old Bailey to two years and nine months imprisonment for causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He had crashed his Range Rover into two pedestrians.

He was earlier found guilty for having no insurance, failing to stop and failing to report a collision. Mohammed was also disqualified from driving for three years.

On Saturday 14 December 2013, Mohammed was driving a grey Range Rover in the City of London. He hit a kerb, which caused the car to flip over onto its side and hit two pedestrians before hitting a bus stop.

A 28-year-old woman and a man who appeared in his 30's suffered serious injuries, while another passenger travelling in Mohammed's Range Rover also suffered serious injuries. Mohammed fled from the scene. He was later traced and arrested at his home address.

Sergeant Sarah Smallwood of Collision Investigation Unit said, “He has shown no remorse, and his disregard for them and other road users that night has affected the victims deeply. “Today’s sentence will hopefully assist in bringing closure to them after this ordeal.”
