A mother Tuesday told how of the “scariest moment of her life” when a thief sped off with her car with her two young children still strapped in the back seat.
Kavipriya Paladhanushan, 36, was picking up her 11-year-old son from his tutor in Ilford at 4.30pm last Sunday when the carjacker struck. She had left her grey Audi Q7 momentarily parked while she got out and walked a few feet to see him safely cross the road. Her eight-year-old daughter and five-year-old son were still inside, waiting to go to a friend’s barbecue.
The mother-of-three chased the car on foot until it disappeared round a bend. A neighbour who witnessed the theft called the police.
The two terrified children were reunited with their mother when they were dumped on the roadside after the car stopped on Fairford Road to let in a second suspect. Police were able to track the £50,000 Audi to a car park in Barking 45 minutes later, using the Find My iPhone app on Mrs Paladhanushan’s mobile left inside the car.
