Minority defendants encouraged to admit guilt

This week, a review of the criminal justice system will say that ethnic minority defendants must be encouraged to plead guilty to crimes they have committed to avoid jail sentences. Even though black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) people make up for 13 per cent of the total population, 112 black men are sentenced to prison for every 100 white men.
