In order to attract more men in the classroom and to close the gender divide in the teaching profession, Now Teach is targeting high-fliers across a range of industries including lawyers, bankers and business leaders.
Usually, students who come for training are young and female. Last year, in comparison to 31,000 men, 105,000 female students were undertaking teacher training degrees at universities.
Katie Waldegrave, the co-founder, said, “I’m proud we’re also addressing gender disparity. Teacher recruitment is hard, but it’s vital for boys to have role models in their male teachers.”
She further added that gender disparity also includes attracting more people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds.
