A delegation including Slough MP Tan Dhesi met with the Immigration Minister to discuss recent attacks on minorities in Afghanistan. Alongside the Slough MP, Hull West and Hessle MP Emma Hardy and representatives from the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara Southall and United Sikhs handed a dossier to the minister.

The document highlights the current difficulties facing the Sikh and Hindu community following over 100 recent attacks against minority groups in Afghanistan.

Tan Dhesi MP said: “While we had raised the issue last year in Parliament, it was important that we updated he Minister about the desperate plight of Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan, seeking reassurances for those refugees in the UK facing the risk of deportation.

Emma Hard MP added: “I am pleased that the Government is going to review its country guidance on Afghanistan and we will be meeting them again at the end of March to ensure that it actually represents the situation for Afghan Sikhs and Hindus.”
