Following the demise of Vijay Patel, who was attacked by three black teenagers as he refused to sell them cigarette paper due to the fact that they were underage, police arrested two boys in connection to his murder who have now been granted bail.

Two males aged 15 and 16, cannot be named for legal reasons, were arrested after they attended a central London police station on Wednesday 10th January.

The Death of Vijay Patel has had a great impact on many people from diverse communities. The Rabbi of Mill Hill Synagogue, Yitzchak Schochet set up a Just Giving crowdfunding page to help the family of Patel.

The target was to raise £1,000, however, they have been inundated with generous donations and have reached £28,474. On the Just Giving page, Rabbi Schochet wrote, “As the Mill Hill Jewish community it is appropriate that we demonstrate compassion for something so tragic that happened in our immediate neighbourhood.”
