Uganda’s senior most diplomat in the UK is encouraging Britons to visit and invest in Uganda. “The Uganda of yesterday is very different to the Uganda of today,” HE Professor Joyce Kikafunda, Uganda’s High Commissioner told a gathering of around 100 guests.

The special get-together, the first of its kind of a proposed series, was held at Uganda House, near Trafalgar Square in London last Friday. Special guest Dr Sudhirbhai Ruparelia was unable to attend, due to flight delays. Guest speakers included MP for Sutton Paul Scully, Jaffer Kapasi, Chairman of Uganda Asians International Forum and Midlands’ Honorary Consul General of Uganda-in-waiting, Subhash Thakrar, former Chairman of London Chamber and Nandish Yajnik from Canada. Also in attendance was Dhirubhai Dattani from Leicester, Dhirubhai Vadera and Kishan Devani, the Tories’ Deputy Chairman in London.

HE Professor Kikafunda, pictured with motivational speaker Paresh Rughani, took the opportunity to introduce her staff team. A people’s person, Professor Kikafunda is the friendliest, modest and down-to-earth High Commissioner I have ever met.
