London: According to a study, scientists suggest that the trigger for Alzheimer's could be passed on by humans, through contaminated tools.

Up until now, scientists had believed that Alzheimer's was mostly caused as a consequence of ageing and partly due to the influence of genes.

However, the new findings from the study has raised the prospect that patients could develop dementia as a result of a blood transfusion, a hospital operation or dental work, such as root canal treatment.
