Hasan Patel from an east London council estate has won a £76,000 scholarship to Eton.
Patel is slated will start at the prestigious private school in September but currently shares a two-bedroom council flat with his parents and two brothers in Leyton.
The 16-year-old, currently studies at the local George Mitchell School, and is planning to study A-levels in history, geography, politics and drama. His family hopes that he will secure a place at Oxford or Cambridge after sixth form.
Patel earlier tweeted- “I’ve got a scholarship to Eton College for sixth form. I know you may be thinking - “a Corbynista going to private school, hypocrite!” This is an opportunity I cannot refuse and it won’t mean my politics will change. I’ll still be the same kid fighting for social justice.
