On 2 October 2014, Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP attended Navratri celebrations in Harrow and Ealing.

Mr Miliband was joined by MPs such as Keith Vaz, Gareth Thomas, Virendra Sharma, Barry Gardiner, Steve Pound and PPCs such as Rupa Huq and Uma Kumaran at the Shree Kadwa Patidar Samaj (UK), Harrow Leisure Centre and Shree Kutch Leva Patel Community (UK)

Mr Miliband said: “I feel privileged to have attended my first ever Navratri celebrations in Harrow & Ealing. I know how important this festival is to British Hindus and it is only right that we are able to celebrate this great festival. Navratri celebrates strength but also togetherness – a theme which the Labour Party holds dear.

The British Hindu community contributes significantly to our economy, our businesses, media and so much more. The rich traditions and cultures of the British Hindu community, such as Navratri celebrations, brings welcome diversity to our nation.
