On Monday 16th March, Labour MP for Ealing and Southall announced that he has was entering into self-isolation after having shown some symptoms of the coronavirus. However, he is yet to be confirmed with the disease considering he is still awaiting to be tested.

Sharma follows the dozen MPs who have resorted to socially distance themselves from Westminster after the health minister Nadine Dorris announced that she had tested positive for the virus.

“On the advice of the NHS 111 I am self-isolating for seven days as a precaution. I have someRachael Maskell, the Labour MP for York Central symptoms, but no confirmation of Covid-19. While in isolation I am still working for the people of Ealing Southall, but I’m particularly disappointed I won’t be able to speak in the budget debate this week.

“The important work of holding the government to account is still going on and I am working by email and phone in the best interests of all my constituents. My office will not be open, but you can still contact me and my team by phone”, Sharma added.

Other MPs who have self-isolated themselves include Security Minister James Brokenshire and Rachael Maskell, the Labour MP for York Central.
