A documentary chronicling the significance of educating girls in India was privately screened in London’s Soho Hotel ahead of International Women’s Day on 6th March.
Road to Vrindavan, a documentary by Irish film maker Ravinol Chambers was screened in the presence of 80 guests from the world of television, charity organisations, and business conglomerates which also included Nobel laurette Malala Yousafzai’s father in the audience.
The documentary takes the viewer on a life-changing journey across India, where Ravinol, a former Krishna monk re-examines traditional gender roles in India and the collision between tradition and progress. Lauding Chambers’ work Pakistani education activist Ziauddin Yousafzai said,
“A film that inspires the value of girls’ education through incredible, honest and authentic stories. Your documentary has beautifully highlighted men’s crucial role in girl’s education and women’s uplift.”
In the meantime, Director Ravinol Chambers said,
“For me the success of the film will be that viewers are inspired with confidence to have brave, honest conversations in our communities, in our families, and within ourselves about the nature of power and gender and how it affects us.
“We must continue to support women and girls whilst also getting more men involved in the conversation so we can make the change that’s needed, together.”
Road to Vrindavan is currently being entered in international film festivals with a cinema release planned for later this year.
