A leading headmistress, Vivienne Durham, of Independent Francis Holland Regent's Park, stated that teachers ought to tell girls that they need to choose between motherhood and their career, rather than misleading them with the “lie” they can have both.

She said that girls needed to prepare for the real world snd that teachers should not tell them that “glass ceiling” does not exist.

Vivienne Durham had made the comments before her retirement in January.
