Girl Guide division held a sleepover with 3,000 young girls and women across the country to mark their global community.

The Girlguiding Wealstone Division participated in an international sleepover at Stanmore Library, Northwest London, as part of World Thinking Day. This gave the opportunity to guides to “think of each other”.

They raised money for girlguide members in the Caribbean who had been affected by Hurricane Irma in the previous year.

Troops from Stanmore, Belmont, Queensbury, Wealdstone and Harrow Weald were among those who took part.

Portfolio holder for community culture and resident engagement, Cllr Sue Anderson attended the event. She said, “It was really wonderful to see so many Brownies and Guides enjoying their sleepover in Stanmore library. I am really proud that we were able to accommodate the group in our beautiful refurbished library. I hope this will be the first of many opportunities for local community groups to engage with our library service.”

Units across the region have collectively raise approximately £23,000 for the hurricane victims.
