Khimji Ramji Patel and his son, Naran Khetani have been fined £12,000 for illegally converting their Neasden house into five flats and renting them out. The pair ignored planning laws and safety regulations to carry out a floundered conversion on the property.

As well as the flats, they also built a single-story extension at the rear of the property.

In addition to creating the flats, the pair also built a single-story rear extension, a rear dormer window and an outbuilding in the back garden without seeking planning permission from Brent Council.

Willesden Magistrates Court were told how the duo ignored several warnings from the council and disregarded an enforcement order.

They were both fined £6,000 each plus £613 towards the cost of council.
