Police are appealing for witnesses and information as a burglary took place at a house in Castlegate, Richmond on 11th December. It is said the burglary took place in the afternoon between 2pm and 5pm. Amongst items stolen was a box containing children's ashes.

Jewellery were also stolen during the burglary but the victim is distressed that her children's ashes have been stolen. The ashes were kept in a maroon box, measuring 13cm by 8cm by 9cm.

Detective Constable Rajinder Chana, from Kingston and Richmond CID said, “This has been a heartbreaking ordeal for the victim, who desperately wants her children's ashes returned. They are of no value to those who stole them, and we would ask that they be returned as soon as possible. Burglary is a particularly invasive crime but this offence has been made worse by what was taken.”

It is said that the suspects had forcefully entered the house via a side gate and rear patio door.
