Asma Khan, owner of Darjeeling Express and Women’s rights activist is helping to raise funds worth £30k in collaboration with charity The Lotus Flower to establish new cafés for female ISIS survivors. The charity is behind the establishment of women and girl centres at camps in Kurdistan, northern Iraq.

The cafe needs to raise £30k for the first year; after which it will be able to fund itself. They already have the space and the money is required for setting up the kitchen, training the women, buying the ingredients and also to have cooking lessons for the younger girls – many of whom were abducted at a young age and never had a chance to learn to cook from their mothers and grand mothers.

And similar to her award-winning London restaurant Darjeeling Express, these camp cafés will also be managed and operated by an all-female team.
