31-year-old man arrested for Bethnal Green murder

A 31-year-old man, Suluk Ahmed, was under arrest at hospital, on suspicion of murdering his father, and for the stabbing of three children in their family home, in Bethnal Green, east London. Ahmed has been charged with murder, as well as two counts of attempted murder.

Jamir Ali (79), was found by the police at the three-storey house with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to hospital but died later from a heart attack. The police also found an 11-year-old girl and a two-year old boy with stab injuries, and a 13-year-old boy with minor cuts.

Suluk Ahmed was also found in the house after trying to cut his wrists with scissors.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said, “Officers attended and found five people suffering from various injuries. A 31-year-old man was found with self-inflicted injuries and was taken to an east London hospital...”.

Suluk Ahmed will be appearing in custody at Thames Magistrates' Court on Thursday 27th August.
