British Indians gathered at the Indian Gymkhana to extend support to the ongoing 'Save Sabarimala' movement in the UK. The participants raised their concerns against the dark forces trying to break the rituals of the temple. The movement comes against the backdrop of the Supreme Court verdict to allow women into the temple premises. This isn't the first time the Sabarimala temple has come in the middle of controversy. Efforts were made back in 1949 by the Christians in Kerala to destroy the temple. It was set on fire in 1950. There was another attempt to destroy it in 1955, and an attempt to build a church in the campus in 1983.
