Liver diseases increased by a fifth during Covid-19

As people started turning to liquid courage to beat the lockdown woes, deaths from alcoholic liver disease have increased by a fifth during the pandemic. A report from Public Health England shows that alcoholic liver deaths rose by 21 per cent between 2019 and 2020, compared with a rise of 3 per cent between 2018 and 2019. Deaths from mental and behavioural problems due to alcohol increased by 11 per cent between 2019 and 2020, compared with a 1.1 per cent increase in the previous year.
