As the former MP for Tooting Sadiq Khan settles into his new role as London Mayor. Back on his home turf the by-election it prompted has the parties battle it out for this marginal seat.
The Labour candidate Rosena Allin-Khan seems to embody the area she wishes to represent. With the respective campaigning in its final week the labour candidate looks like the pollsters favourite to win.
Khan, a mixed race daughter of immigrant parents, is a A&E doctor with a modest middle-class upbringing. “I’m half Polish, half Pakistani, went to a Church of England school and married a Welshman. But I’m a hundred percent Tooting”.
Results of the by election to be announced on Thursday 16th June.
