The 49-year-old Labour MP Simon Danczuk, has been suspended for allegedly sending sexual text messages (an act also known as sexting) to a 17-year-old student, Sophena Houlihan, now 18, allegedly stating that he wanted to “spank” her.
It is suspected that the MP had sent these messages to the teenager in July, after separating from him wife, Karen Danczuk, also known as “selfie queen”.
There are allegations that the two had started exchanging messages for months after Houlihan had contacted him regarding a vacancy in his constituency office.
A Labour Party spokesperson shared, “A full investigation will now take place under the authority of the National Executive Committee, which will be responsible for determining any further action.”
The teenager stated, “When I first got in touch I never expected the messages to get so graphic, At the time I played along with it, but now I feel like he duped me.”
On his Twitter account, Danczuk expressed, “Today's Sun story, while not entirely accurate, refers to an extremely low point in my life. My behaviour was inappropriate & I apologise unreservedly to everyone I've let down. I was stupid & there's no fool like an old fool.”
