The honorary Consul for India in Wales has been recognised for his pioneering work for organ donation in Wales and the UK.

Raj Aggarwal, 66, who is Chairman of Kidney Wales Foundation, won the Wales Online Award.

He recently won victory in his campaign for the introduction of the principle of assumed consent for organ donation which was introduced as law in the UK last month.

The crucial opt-out rule will positively impact on waiting lists for organ donors and will help save lives.

Pharmacist and entrepreneur Mr Aggarwal, pictured, said: "It was an unexpected but very pleasant surprise to get this award. I'm extremely pleased that with the introduction of the "soft opt-out" law for organ donations, many more organ donations will be available for those who are in dire need."
