Over the years the Hindu Forum of Britain has raised serious concerns with the government and carried out a number of sessions with Mandirs and Samaj across the UK. In a joint letter from UK Sikh & Hindu organisations to the Home Secretary - Suella Braverman the members of the community have written about Pakistani grooming gangs. The letter titled ‘Joint faith group response: religiously motivated sexual grooming’ is as follows:
“As UK faith representatives, we support the ongoing efforts of Home Secretary Suella Braverman who has in the face of some considerable hostility bravely spoken out about the over-representation of British Pakistani men in sex grooming gangs operating around the UK. We as faith communities want the government to acknowledge the motivation for the majority of sexual grooming gangs in the UK and we believe the evidence overwhelmingly points to an inconvenient truth. That is: non-Muslim girls (this includes Sikh, Hindu and White Christian girls) have been systematically targeted in Britain due to a form of religiously motivated hate. We implore the Home Secretary to have the courage to explore further this reality if we are serious about investigating the 'othering' of victims by these grooming gangs.”
The letter also extends support to Baroness Warsi’s brave stance when she said, “a small minority” of Pakistani men see white girls as “fair game”, and asks the government to help the Muslim community tackle this stain on an otherwise law-abiding community, with appropriate funding if necessary.
