Gift shop owner, Mo Ahmed, 42 was said to be jealous that his wife was going out while he was working at a second job and hence called the hotel pub to give a false bomb alert so that he can stop his wife from spending money at the pub.

Ahmed's hoax called led to police evacuating 25 overnight guests and 130 bar customers at The Duke of Wellington in Minehead, Somerset, in the early hours of the morning.

The Duke of Wellington was forced to close early and ended up losing an estimated £840 in takings.

Mo Ahmed, from Minehead, admitted to making two false bomb alert calls and was jailed for six months, suspended for a year. He was also ordered to pay £840 compensation.

Judge Geoffrey Mercer told Mo Ahmed, “These calls were bound to be traced because they were made from your own mobile phone. I am told you are thoroughly ashamed and so you should be. It was a bizarre way of thinking. It was an extraordinary thing to do.”
