The man accused of murdering James Cromwell in Cambridge was in court again Tuesday, January 9.
Abdul Korim Ali, 25, is accused of murdering James Cromwell who died of his injuries after being stabbed on Stretten Avenue in the Arbury area of the city on June 30. Despite the best efforts of paramedics who battled to save him at the scene, the 27-year-old died at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
The defendant is appearing for trial at Cambridge Crown Court alongside his brother Abdul Salam Ali, 24, who will be tried as a co-defendant but is not charged with murder. Abdul Salam Ali was charged with one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by contacting a witness to unlawfully intimidate them, unauthorised transmission of an image or sound from inside a prison and one count of intimidating a witness.
On Monday, January 8 Judge David Farrell QC dismissed the charge for both brothers of perverting the course of justice as there was a lack of evidence. The court also heard from witnesses who said they had witnessed K Ali with a knife, and had seen him "waving" it around.
The trial continues.
