Indiaspora’s annual Diwali dinner at the House of Lords on 30 October underscored the growing influence of the Indian diaspora and brought together prominent business leaders, parliamentarians and distinguished guests.

Hosted by Indiaspora UK Country Head Nina Amin, the evening was a celebration of India’s rich cultural heritage, the enduring relationship between the UK and India, and the role that the global Indian community continues to play in shaping business, innovation and international relationships.

Among the distinguished guests were Lord Karan Bilimoria, CBE, DL who hosted the dinner, Seema Malhotra MP, former Conservative MP Shailesh Vara, Baroness Verma, Baroness Prashar, and members of the wider Indiaspora network. The evening was honoured by the presence of Indiaspora’s founder, MR Rangaswami, and Executive Director Sanjeev Hoshipura, reflecting the organisation’s continued commitment to connecting and mobilising influential members of the global Indian community.

In her welcome address, Nina Amin reflected on the significance of Diwali, the growing importance of the Indian diaspora as a bridge between the UK and India, and their deepening economic, cultural and strategic partnerships. The event underscored the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of collaboration – connecting capital, talent, ideas and opportunities across borders.

The evening’s celebrations were made possible through the generous support of sponsors Rajiv Malhotra and Ritesh Idnani of Firstsource. Their support reflected the importance of businesses and individuals investing in the relationships and networks that strengthen the wider community.

The after-dinner address by former England cricketer Ryan Sidebottom brought a sporting perspective, warmth and humour to the evening.

Founded by MR Rangaswami, Indiaspora has grown into a global network of accomplished leaders, active across six countries and bringing together more than 400 influential individuals. Its mission is to connect the global Indian diaspora and harness its collective influence for positive impact.

The House of Lords gathering demonstrated the strength of that network and the extraordinary breadth of talent within the Indian diaspora - from entrepreneurship and finance to politics, philanthropy, sport and technology.
