Dr Manju Bhattacharya-Kar (born 13.6.41) left us for her heavenly abode on 18.12.2023

A doctor by profession, she had been a tireless servant of society working as an Anaesthetist for many years- having qualified from RG Kar Medical College in 1969. A stint in the UK from 1972-1979 was followed by many years of service in the West Bengal Health Service. Beyond her work as a doctor, she was a talented Rabindra sangeet singer and a proponent of the art of Kathak. Her love for Bengali movies –namely those headed by Uttam Kumar was a key feature- but beyond all, her work as a matriarch in the Bhattacharya and Kar Households- instilled much joy in others' lives through her kindness and words of wisdom.

She was loved and appreciated by many friends and family- with indebted gratitude from those in the Kar and Bhattacharya household for her guiding light over the years. She leaves behind her son, daughter and husband- a union made in the stars- of nearly 54 years.

We wish her eternal peace after a lifetime of service to society, friends and above all, family.

Om Shanti.
