Immigrants rush for British passport

Immigrants from Europe and elsewhere are rushing to acquire British passports, once eligible, as they fear of being sent home if anti-immigration party such as UKIP wins the general elections.

According to the Home Office, the grants of citizenship by original country of nationality in 2013 includes, 36,351 Indians, followed by 7,289 Chinese. More than 10,000 EU nationals were given citizenship in 2013. They included 6,066 Poles, 2,488 Romanians and 1941 Bulgarians.
