Illegally crossing Europe will lead asylum seekers to another country

Home Secretary Priti Patel wants asylum seekers to be sent to another country if they illegally cross Europe. This move comes after her plans to crackdown on unauthorised migration. With this, she attempts to stop human trafficking of desperate migrants.

According to The Daily Mail, “Those who come to Britain from a safe country such as France will have their claims deemed ‘inadmissible’.”

Patel apparently wants to change the law so that migrants can be sent to a third country such as Turkey. From there, they can wait to return to their home nation safely.

According to The Sun, housing secretary and Cabinet minister Robert Jenrick said, "It is extremely important we have a robust immigration system, and those people coming to the country to seek asylum can do so in safety. We don't want anyone's lives to be put at risk, we don't want people to be at the hands of people traffickers. We've seen people, including young children, dying making perilous crossings across the Channel. That isn't something we want to see, so if there are safer and better ways of doing that we should be exploring them and that's exactly what the Home Secretary is doing."

A Home Office source said the move was designed to ‘break the link’ between getting in a dinghy or lorry in France and securing a new life in the UK.
