On 6th November 2022, ICAI UK Chapter, the Indian Chartered Accountancy body in the UK, organised celebrations at Osterley Banqueting Suite to commemorate the celebration of the Hindu festival of lights Diwali. The event was organised by ICAI UK Chapter Krishna Prasad Dahal, Meenal Sambre , Tabassum Nathani, Vineet Jain.
Over 100 members gathered lightening, gorgeous stunning attires, and a flower rangoli by CA Jalpa Bhadrecha filled the environment with enthusiasm.
Among the dignitaries, the UK ICAI Chapter marked the first-ever representation from the High Commission of India represented by Shri Lakshmi Narayanan R - First Secretary of Income Tax Overseas Unit.
CA Meenal Sambre opened the floor with a warm welcome to all the members and admired the united spirit among CA Fraternity. She introduced the Chief guest and dignitary HCI representative Shri Lakshmi Narayanan R. highlighting his career with Indian Revenue Services, Ministry of Finance and his current role in the UK involving reviewing tax treaties and Tax information exchange agreements etc. She requested Narayan to speak a few words about HCI’s current initiatives in the UK.
Shri Lakshmi Narayanan R initiated the speech with a thank-you note to CA Meenal Sambre for the invitation. He mentioned that his association with ICAI UK goes back a long back and started with a positive note that he would admit that discussions have been ever engaging. ICAI is the financial watchdog of the economic outlook and businesses, your certification ensures the financial health of the entire finance ecosystem. He was part of OECD negotiations of Pillar 1 and Pillar 2, and he especially looks forward to ICAI’s association on Pillar 1 and Pillar 2 which should now be designed on IFRS standards and looks forward to synergy and a smooth transition. He also spoke about MOU between ICAI and ICAEW.
Chairman Krishna Prasad Dahal opened the floor for the cultural programme, CA Amit Mathur and CA Tabassum Nathani hosted the event, the programme started with #Ganesh Vandana by CA Shikha Mathur, a classical dance dedicated to Lord Shri Ram by CA Sushma Madhusudan and Gargi.
The afternoon was filled with excitement with programmes including poetry, solo dance and group dance and deliciously amazing food.
Krishna Prasad Dahal closed the curtains with a thank you note for each and every member of the committee who has worked tirelessly to make this happen and work on details. Special thanks were given to Vinitaji and the cultural event team who took over the responsibility of arranging cultural activities. Hope we will keep on doing such wonderful.
