Home Secretary, Theresa May, has declared that she “may exclude” people who are “not conductive to the public good”. This could lead to the US Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, being barred from the UK.

There were more than 560,000 people who had called for the US Presidential candidate to be banned from entering the UK. The Government had confirmed that the petition could be discussed in Parliament after it received 100,000 signatures.

A spokesperson for Theresa May issued a statement. “The Home Secretary may exclude a non-European Economic Area national from the UK if she considers their presence in the UK to be non-conductive to the public good. The Home Secretary has said that coming to the UK is a privilege and not a right and she will continue to use the powers available to prevent from entering the UK those who seek to harm our society and who do not share our basic values.”

The statement also stated that the Government would not comment on Donald Trump's individual case.
