Hero taxi driver saves pregnant woman from sex trafficker

A hero taxi driver saved a pregnant woman from sex slavery after her handler ordered a cab. Sex trafficker Robert Enescu, 26, told Tahir Mehmood to drive the woman to a brothel but instead he called police after picking up on the woman's distress when they were left alone in the taxi. Enescu had tricked the married hotel worker to come to the UK from his Romanian homeland after offering her work as a "masseuse". She was kept hostage at a brothel in London before being moved to Coventry where she was forced to pose in lingerie on adult websites. The incident happened on February 20, 2018. Police bodycam footage showed the taxi driver interact with officers when they arrived. Hero Mr Mehmood has been put forward for a commendation from West Midlands Police for helping save the woman. Enescu was found guilty of sex trafficking the victim and jailed for nine years in absence after skipping bail. A European arrest warrant has been issued for the trafficker. His victim gave evidence from behind a screen at the trial.
