Officials reveal that for the first time in the 256-year history of Guinness, they will now be offering a vegan friendly pint, as the company is said to be be stopping the use of fish bladders in its filters.

Strict vegetarians and vegans have long petitioned to stop the use of isinglass.

A spokesperson for Guinness stated that a new filtration plant will be set to build in 2016, which will stop the use of the substance used from bladders of fish. “Whilst isinglass is a very effective means of clarification, and has been used for many years, we expect to stop using it as the new filtration asset is introduced.”
