One is never too old to find love and companionship. This is what 90-year-old Vera Burrell and John Mason, 91, believe. They both met each other for the first time in a pub and 45 minutes later, they were at a travel agent, booking a luxury cruise together.
Vera Burrell from Suffolk said, “Life is for living. You have got to get on with it, haven't you?”
They started chatting away when John Mason came and sat down at her table in the pub. And before they knew it, Mr Mason was booking a Mediterranean cruise worth £3,700. Mrs Burrell explains, “He asked me if I had ever been on a cruise. I told him I couldn't afford it and my late husband would never have gone on a cruise”.”
Mr Mason told her that he enjoyed going on cruises with his late wife but was unable to do so anymore without a companion as his eyesight is failing him, making it difficult for him to read menus.
Post the getaway, they both decided to stay in touch and remain friends.
