Westminster magistrates court heard about a man alleged to be a terror suspect who encouraged extremists to attack the prospective future King, Prince George at his school, giving a warning that “even the Royal family will not be left alone.”
The court was also informed that the suspect, Husnain Rashid, 31, used an encrypted message service to distribute Prince George's photograph beside an image of an Isil fighter. He allegedly also gave the school address of Prince George where he currently studies and hinted that “school starts early”.
Husnain Rashid has also been accused of supplying practical assistance to future terrorists, and provided information on potential target sites for attacks, such as sports stadiums.
The 31-year-old pleaded not guilty to preparing acts of terrorism, and to preparing to assist others to commit terrorist acts.
Prosecutor Rebecca Mundy stated, “This defendant has set up a number of channels on which he broadcasts material to assist terrorists. They actively provide practical assistance and the intension is the readers will go on to commit acts of terrorism.”
The prosecutor also added, “A post, which we in this country will find particularly worrying, was a photograph of the young Prince George at the beginning of his school term, next to a silhouette of a jihadi fighter. Next to that was a caption, 'school starts early'. It provides an address in Battersea for a school to which the young prince attends.”
It is now said that Scotland Yard is working with the school in Battersea “on protective security arrangements for His Royal Highness”, which includes CCTV cameras fitted with facial recognition technology, an electronic entrance system controlling reinforced glass doors, as well as have plain-clothes police officers around the school.
