How many of you have heard of the ‘Doctrine of Discovery’? Without being too presumptuous, I suspect the answer will be very few. In fact, astonishingly, this one concept of genocide and ethnocide committed by Christians has gone unreported for centuries. There is a conspiracy to keep it out of headlines and to hide it from history. All efforts are made to stop the truth of this despicable curse on humanity from coming out. Even ordinary Christians have no idea of this, nor of its impact on hundreds of millions of people right across the world.
So let me explain the basics and why in my opinion, Christians are responsible for genocide and ethnocide of millions over many centuries. This will be uncomfortable reading, especially for those of you who wish to appease to theperpetrators of these crimes against humanity.
The ‘Doctrine of Discovery’ was first put into writing in 1452 as one of the papal ‘bulls’(but its unethical thought process stemmed from many centuries before) by the then Pope. In a nutshell, the doctrine legitimised for colonial nations such as Spain and Portugal (but its effect and impact was much wider, and many other European/Christian nations followed the same doctrine) to seize lands and subjugate people,as long as they were not Christians. That’s right, you see they did not believe that anyone else was worthy to be considered a human being unless they were Christians.
The Doctrine of Discovery provided a framework for Christian explorers in the name of their King or Queen, to lay claim to lands uninhabited by Christians. If the lands were vacant of Christians, then they could be defined as “discovered” and ‘sovereignty’was claimed.
‘Terra nullius’ is a Latin expression meaning "nobody's land". Meaning, if a Christian steps on any land, anywhere on this planet, and if in their opinion that land is, ‘terra nullis’, then by the power invested by the doctrine of discovery, they can lay claim over all those lands. To give you a few examples, America, Canada, South America, Africa, India, Australia, New Zealand, and so on. You get the point.
Lest you still doubt the authenticity of the above, this is from the Romanis Pontifex by Pope Nicholas V to King Afonso V of Portugal, 1455:
"To invade, search out, capture, vanquish, and subdue all Saracens and pagans whatsoever, and other enemies of Christ wheresoever placed, and the kingdoms, dukedoms, principalities, dominions, possessions, and all movable and immovable goods whatsoever held and possessed by them and to reduce their persons to perpetual slavery."
Even the Permanent Forum (UN) had to note recently that, while such frameworks of domination and “conquest” were promoted as authority for land acquisition, they also encouraged despicable assumptions: that indigenous peoples were “savages, barbarians, inferior and uncivilized”,and this was used by the colonisers to justify their subjugation, domination and exploitation of lands, territories, and its indigenous peoples.
Whole cultures andcivilisations were wiped out, or almost destroyed, or contaminated because of this wholesale policy of exploitation and enslavement. The white man (and woman) with their Christian zeal systematically destroyed cultures and its people. i.e. Ethnocide. And where they found it difficult to commit ethnocide, genocide or subjugation was the preferred option. All done in the name of their one God.
It is therefore surprising that in so many of these nations that now claim to be free at last, still have millions of indigenous people who have taken to the faith of their oppressor. Their very bloodline has been so contaminated with the evil perpetrated on them over centuries, that today even in their so called ‘freedom’, they continue the tradition of the oppressors. Ethnocide is complete on them; the sacrifice of their bloodline remains in ruins. The devil incarnate has truly captured the souls of these heathens.
So if you are a Hindu, a Sikh, a Buddhist, a Jain, thank your lucky stars that your bloodline did not bow down to the inhumanity of this one God. In this world there are two faiths that thrive on ethnocide and genocide, Christianity and Islam. Both borne of the same parent, yet these two siblings of a destructive ideology continue their infantile rivalries on the world stage even today.
One would need to create a library of books to record the atrocities committed under the guise of the ‘doctrine of discovery’. Suffice to say, it was and continues to live in the minds and habitual behaviour of those who still foster such sentiments. Open your eyes and see the world for what it is, that it remains the playground for those who wish to systematically destroy cultures that challenge their superiority.
