Dr Nik Kotecha OBE DL, a prominent British Asian businessman and philanthropist, has been honoured with an esteemed accolade from the University of Leicester in recognition of his significant contributions to society, as stated in an official announcement.
During the graduation ceremony held at De Montfort Hall on Thursday (20), he was awarded an honorary doctorate of science, celebrating his outstanding achievements and positive impact on various fields.
Coming to Leicester as a child refugee with his family in 1972, escaping the oppressive rule of Idi Amin in Uganda, Dr Kotecha's journey is one of resilience and success. Growing up in Leicester, he established Morningside Pharmaceuticals from modest beginnings and steadily built an immensely successful career in the pharmaceutical industry. His international pharmaceuticals business found its roots in Loughborough.
“I hope my story helps inspire the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs to work hard and follow their dreams of making a positive difference to the world,” he said while speaking after the ceremony.
Dr. Kotecha's dedication to philanthropy led to the establishment of the Randal Charitable Foundation, through which he made significant international contributions to the fields of pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and innovation. His remarkable achievements and positive influence on society have earned him this prestigious recognition from the University of Leicester.
