Deputy Lord Lieutenant Raj Aggarwal hosted the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in Cardiff For the Platinum Jubilee

Raj Aggarwal was present in his official duty to escort the Royal visitors on their visit to Cardiff for the Platinum Jubilee.

The Cambridges attended Cardiff Castle on Saturday with Prince George and Princess Charlotte on day three of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend celebrations.

Raj Aggarwal was there to welcome them and take them around to see the huge crowd that had formed to see them at the event. Afterwards, the Cambridges were introduced to performers and crew involved in the special celebrations taking place on the castle grounds on Saturday afternoon. The couple and their children watched rehearsals and met some of the acts taking part in the celebrations including Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler.

Last week, Bonnie was made an MBE in the Queen's Birthday honours last week for her services to music.

Raj Aggarwal said: "It was a huge privilege and honour to welcome them. They were a delightful family, very relaxed and full of affection and warmth. They were courteous at all times and happy to be visiting Cardiff. Their interaction with everyone was extremely pleasant and genuine. Prince George and Princess Charlotte were overwhelmed by the gathering and were full of smiles.

"As they were leaving Cardiff Castle, I said to them it was wonderful having you and you made us all so proud and happy, and both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge  said they had hugely enjoyed the meet and greet and said they will be back soon."

It was one of the many events over the Platinum Jubilee that Raj Aggarwal was involved in. He attended the Platinum Jubilee Festival of Music with Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford, where Raj was representing the Royal Navy, in which he serves as an Honorary Captain. They were present for the 42 gun salute and the amazing musical performances in honour of the Queen. They also all attended the celebrations onboard HMS Severn in Cardiff on the same day.
