Covid hospital admissions increase by 26% in England

As per the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics, Covid-19 admissions to hospitals across England have gone up by 26 per cent.

Hospitals are facing a lot of pressure as more 552,198 positive tests are hitting record highs in Scotland.

In mere seven days, admissions in the northeast and Yorkshire have shot up rapidly by more than 52 per cent with the southeast and southwest saw increases of 24 and 25 per cent respectively.

In the week upto 12 March, one in 20 people had Covid in England.

Northern Devon Healthcare Trust admitted that it was facing “significant bed pressures” at two of its hospitals- North Devon District Hospital and South Milton did not have enough beds to admit emergency patients.

The latest data published by NHS England revealed that there were 11,059 Covid-19 admissions to hospital in the seven days up to Friday 18 March, compared to 8,768 in the seven days prior.
