The leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, has pledged to build one million “genuinely affordable” homes over 10 years to combat the housing crisis if Labour comes to power.

The majority of new homes proposed by Corbyn would be for social rent, and would be delivered by local councils while overseen by a new government department devoted solely to housing.
