Contribution of Tamils to the UK and Global economic development celebrated

Thursday 28th June saw the launch of the Tamil Chair in Oxford University. The historic moment was witnessed by 150 people at the Edwardian room, in the Taj hotel.

It was as a global summit celebrations at the House of Commons, with an award function, 'Achievement Awards 2018'. This was not just an opportunity to celebrate the prosperous achievements of the Tamil community across the globe. But also an opportunity to recognise their contributions. The event was hosted by Rt. Hon. Nia Griffiths MP, the Shadow Secretary of State for Defense, UK. Other MP's who graced the occasion include Rt. Hon. Virendra Sharma, Rt. Hon. Steve Reed, Rt. Hon. Thangam Debbonaire, Rt. Hon. Gerald Jones, Rt. Hon. Preeti Patel, Rt. Hon. Therese Villiers, Rt. Hon. Grant Shapps.

At inauguration as an Invocation to “Mother Tamil”, the ‘State song of Tamil Nadu’ was recited, with due respect given by all our guests. Following this speakers from across the globe, which included various Tamil community leaders, successful entrepreneurs, were happy to share their inspirational success stories, to the elite motivated audience gathered in the hall. This made us acknowledge the growth of Tamil globally. The event also gave various business networking opportunities, with people who have made exemplary contributions in various fields.
