Last weekend, residents of Newbury gathered for the second consecutive year in Victoria Park to celebrate International Yoga Day. Organized by the local Hindu group Bharati Shakha Newbury in partnership with Swasti Yoga and Newbury Town Council, the event took place on Saturday morning, June 17.

A total of around 70 participants laid out their yoga mats in front of the bandstand and joined in the collective session. Notably, Newbury Mayor Nigel Foot and several town councillors also attended and actively participated in the event.

“It was very nice to see the Newbury community, especially the youth, come together for this event and to also see this turning into an annual event”, Mayor Foot was quoted as saying by Newbury Today.

The one-hour session, which commenced at 9 am, provided an opportunity for the community to come together and embrace the practice of yoga. It was a testament to the community's interest and support for this special day.

The International Yoga Day celebration in Victoria Park exemplified the collaborative spirit between Bharati Shakha Newbury, Swasti Yoga, and Newbury Town Council. The event not only promoted physical and mental well-being but also fostered a sense of unity and togetherness among the participants.
