The Nehru Centre and The High Commission of India celebrated the ‘Communal Harmony Week’ through dance on November 23. The event was organised to raise funds to support activities of the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Home Affairs established in 1992. The Foundation provides care, education and training to children who have become destitute in communal, caste, ethnic or terrorist violence. The event was attended by artists from Ankh Dance Group, and celebrated artists like Arunima Kumar and Suhani Dhanki. Ankh- 'Ankh dance is a company set up by renowned Kathak exponent & guru Gauri Sharma Tripathi. Arunima Kumar is one of Britain's most celebrated, award winning Kuchipudi dancers, teachers, choreographers, producers and strong advocates for Diversity and Inclusion in Arts & culture, she is the Founder/Artistic Director of Britain's largest Kuchipudi institution with over 150 students across 5 countries . She Is the head of Kuchipudi faculty at Bhavan London and produces the largest Inclusive Intergenerational festival of Kuchipudi in London each year promoting 75+ artists. Suhani Dhanki Mody is a disciple of eminent performing academician Guru Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Suhani has been learning the Thanjavur tradition of Bharatanatyam in the Shastra and Sampradaya methodology. She has completed her Masters in Dance - Bharatanatyam with a Gold Medal from the Bharata College of Fine Arts & Culture, is a recipient of the National Scholarship to Young Artists awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, a graded artist of the Doordarshan and is qualified with the CBSE-NET Examination for Professorship in Performing Arts and has been performing across India and UK. Suhani also works as an Actor and has featured on prime-time Indian television shows and theatricals in the lead role.
