This Thursday saw Britain vote for the local elections, with more than 4,000 council seats up for grabs across 153 councils in England. More than 22 million citizens could register their votes in the first local elections since last year’s snap general election. The election is set to be a test of political feeling in Britain, with Labour expected to secure a victory. Make sure you all make your voices heard and vote. Constituents in Watford, Hackney, Newham, Lewisham and Tower Hamlets will also be choosing a new local authority mayor. And voters in Sheffield will be electing a “metro mayor” for the first time. In London, Labour is predicted to register its best performance for 40 years, with Jeremy Corbyn proving particularly popular among residents of the nation’s capital.
