Celebrities mark their presence at the Wimbledon finals

The 2023 edition of the Wimbledon Championships concluded, featuring Carlos Alcaraz as the victor in the men's final and Marketa Vondrousova as the champion of the women's singles. From the beginning, the tournament exuded elegance, attracting celebrities and royals, and it ended on the same note. Bollywood celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Amir Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Neena Gupta and Mohanlal marked their presence at their tournament.

Bollywood makes a statement

India’s global superstar Priyanka Chopra attended the Women’s singles finals alongside her husband, singer Nick Jonas and enjoyed the match from the Royal Box. The couple’s attendance at the tournament allowed US Opens to crack a joke at the couple. The Instagram handle of US Opens shared a collage of their appearance at the 2018 US opens alongside their pictures from the Wimbledon finals. The image was captioned, “Do you think they have tennis in the Year 3000? -Priyanka to Nick (probably).”  While Priyanka skipped the Men’s finals, her mother Dr Madhu Chopra accompanied her son-in-law to the event.

Amir Khan attended the Wimbledon finals along with daughter Ira khan and sons Azad and Junaid were also present. Ira Khan took to instagram to post a selfie of the group on her stories. Meanwhile, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja attended the tournament with husband, Anand Ahuja. She actively documented her experience on Instagram, sharing glimpses of the tickets, food and the players in action. Congratulating 20-year-old Alcaraz on his maiden title, Sonam wrote, “What an incredible historic match to watch, with such brilliant company! Congratulations to the insanely talented @carlitosalcarazz and the amazing @djokernole! @wimbledon #everydayphenomenal”.

Veteran actor Mohanlal enjoyed a day out in London as he attended the Women’s semi- finals. The icon was accompanied by Disney Star executive K Madhavan. While the star shared some pictures from the grass court that were much loved by the fans, the official Twitter account of the tournament shared the veteran’s picture with the caption “Great to have you at #Wimbledon, Superstar Mohanlal”.

Ardent tennis fan and actor Neena Gupta ticked off a box in her bucket list as she attended the women’s final at Wimbledon. The actor posted videos and photos from the tournament with her husband, calling it a dream come true.

Mu’awwiz Anwar, eight, took centre stage to start the match

The eight year old met Prince and Princess of Wales and their children Charlotte and George. He handed the coin to Charlotte, who showed it to her brother, before passing it back. Kate told Mu’awwiz that she hopes that he gets to enjoy “every moment of it”, while she thanked the boy for attending the event.

Mu’awwiz was representing WaterAid, a charity for which he raised nearly £10,000. He cycled three miles every day, during Ramadan, to raise funds and completed a half ironman triathlon this year. The charity was nominated by AELTC Chaiurman, Ian Hewitt.

A touch of Royalty at the finals

Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton was joined by husband Prince William and children Charlotte and George for the Wimbledon finals. This was charlotte’s first and Georges second Wimbledon outing and the siblings thoroughly enjoyed the game, cheering on the players in the court. Queen Camila and Princess Beatrice also attended matches earlier this week.

Apart from the British royals, King Felipe VI of Spain and Princes Maria- Olympia of Greece were also present at the finals.

Celeb galore at Wimbledon

Many other international celebrities marked their presence throughout the Wimbledon tournament. Freida Pinto, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, singer Ellie Goulding, Jameela Jamil, Billie Jean King, Cara Delevingne, David Beckham and Jon Bon Jovi were some of the celebrities witnessed throughout the tournament. Ariana Grande was spotted at the finals alongside “Wicked” co-star and Bridgerton star, Jonathan Bailey. The duo were joined by Andrew Garfield, Tom Hiddleston and his wife, Zawe Ashton.

The tournament finals was also attended by other Bridgerton stars like Phoebe Dynevor, India Amarteifio, Corey Mylchreest, Arsema Thomas, Golda Rohseuvel, Nicola Coughlan, Charithra Chandran, Hannah Dodd and Luke Newton. Brad Pitt was also present in the stands and successfully took the internet by the storm with his buff blonde presence. Home Secretary, Suella Braverman was also present for the tournament and met with the event organizers and the police, thanking them for their commitment to protecting the public.

Reigning James Bond, Daniel Craig enjoyed the game from the Royal Box and greeted the Princess of Wales. He was seated alongside his wife, actor Rachel Weisz. Former Bafta chair Krishnendu Majumdar was also present in the Royal box. Emma Watson, along with Lewis Capaldi were spotted cheering from the stands.
