South Asian Heritage Month, observed across the UK from 1–31 July, celebrates the rich cultures, histories and contributions of South Asian communities.
It also promotes greater understanding of the shared histories between the UK and the eight South Asian nations while encouraging younger generations to embrace their heritage. This year's theme, 'Unity in Diversity', highlights shared values, cultural diversity and a collective sense of community and belonging.
Launched in 2020, South Asian Heritage Month was established to celebrate and deepen understanding of the shared histories between the UK and South Asia.
It showcases the rich cultures, traditions and contributions of South Asian communities, highlighting their lasting influence on British society through food, music, fashion, business, language and community life, while celebrating what it means to be South Asian today.
From 2026, the observance will take place throughout July, replacing its previous 18 July–17 August schedule. Organisers say the move to a full calendar month makes the celebration easier to remember, supports broader participation and reflects its evolution from a UK initiative into a globally recognised observance.
