It gives us great pleasure in extending our warmest congratulations to all Asian Voice readers who are celebrating India’s Independence Day this year.

As Co-Chairs of Conservative Friends of India, we hope we can continue to play a key role in strengthening bilateral relations between the UK and India. Despite the pandemic, we have made enormous progress with Prime Minister Johnson and Prime Minister Modi announcing an ambitious “2030 Roadmap” for greater collaboration in health, climate, trade, education, science and technology and defence.

The 1.7 million-strong British Indian diasporas are key in nurturing this special relationship and we hope that we can continue to play a crucial role in serving the diaspora. Post-Brexit and post Covid-19, we hope that we can work together in enhancing our economic recovery and maintaining our place on the changing world stage.

We hope and pray that the bond between our two great countries continues to grow in strength and prosperity.
